We have some exciting news to share!
A thrilling international event is coming to the heart of the Midwest this weekend! The beloved Red Bull Soapbox Race is taking place in Des Moines, Iowa this year (with Casey's playing a big part!), and we're inviting all of our incredible guests to join the fun!
Since 2000, Red Bull Soapbox Races have been held all around the world, from Belgium to London to Hong Kong - and now, for the first time, it will take place in our home state of Iowa!
On June 18th at Iowa's capital, 50 teams of amateur racers will compete in homemade soapbox vehicles, racing downhill on a course filled with obstacles and fans cheering from the sidelines. Teams are judged not only on speed, but also on the creativity of their cart and their showmanship during a 30 second pre-race skit.
The top 3 teams will receive trophies and prizes, plus there are opportunities for special awards: People's Choice, Casey's Hometown Hero, and Fastest Speed. The Casey's Hometown Hero winner will be recognized for the cart that best reflects the heart of their community, and the winning team will win FREE Casey's Pizza for a year!
We are incredibly proud to be partnering with Red Bull to sponsor such a fun event as a part of our Summer of Freedom celebration right here in our own home state. We couldn't let them have all the fun, so we will also be competing with our very own team!
Marc-David M., a team member on our Fuel Team, has decided to lead the charge as our lead driver, with Anthony J., also from the Fuel Team, will act as his back-up.
Any guesses as to what our car looks like? If you guessed pizza, you would be correct!
How could we not showcase our most famous product? Just looking at our cart is making us hungry...
Pictures just won't do - you know you want to come see this in person!
Mark your calendar for June 18th, 2022! The Opening Ceremony will kick off at approximately 11:55 AM, with the races following a few minutes later. Be sure to stick around for the Awards Ceremony after the races have finished!
The race is free to watch and open to the public, and it will take place right by the beautiful Iowa State Capitol Grounds. The event is walkable from downtown Des Moines, and there is plenty of parking around the city. Plus, check out all the fun things there are to do right here in downtown Des Moines.
Make sure to check out the vendors while at the event. Vendors will be selling food and non-alcoholic beverage options at the event - all your entertainment and food needs in one place on the perfect summer Saturday.
